History

The first edition of the Festival was hold in Blagoevgrad in 1983 under the patronage of Bulgarian National Television. George Kouzmov became the Manager of the Organizational Committee in 1994 and changed the formula and place of the Event. In 1997, the Golden Antenna Festival was settled in the Black Sea Resort of Albena.

In 2000, the Festival extended its roof developing to new competitions during the event week in the media fields of Press and Radio. The vision and objectives of the festivals and market changed. Albena was the place where International Media were meeting during the TV World Festival.

In 2004, the Event welcomed two new key incomers in the world of Media: a Web and a Creative Use of Media festival. The Festival became a main gathering of the professionals of all communication domains and in order to highlight this gathering, the name was changed to International Media Events.

The International Media Events were not only known in South Eastern Europe but also all over the world. In 2006, the prestigious Golden Umbrella Award lent its name to the Festival.

This year, 2007, the CEO of the event is Georges Luks, former CEO of Festival Rose d'Or in Lucerne, Switzerland. George Kouzmov and Georges Luks created a new company, Mediamixx International ltd. Their aim is to establish a festival and market place with business opportunities, tailor-made solutions, think tank and trendsetting: Mediamixx 07 International Festival and Market.
